Roses delivered as an apology...
Check it... yesterday, a student had a long black box delivered to me. Inside it were two long stem roses and a glass vase. What for? Apparently, as an apology for a disruption he made in class last week. Really, it was nothing! I hardly recall what it was about. He was angry and flew off the handle that day. Not a big deal. But still, it was the sweetest apology I have ever gotten. Very sweet!
Teaching is pretty exhausting, I must admit. Coming up with lesson plans before class is not so easy. Especially for 4 classes a week. There is a huge stack of papers for me to grade on top of all that. This weekend I'm going to continue my house hunt in DC. Oh... and midterms are right are in two weeks, so I have to start writing exams. Where are all of my friends who said they'd come over armed with red pens to help grade?! Come on guys!
First Friday in Philadelphia.
With only two more months in Philly, I am trying to get in all of the city's claim to fames. Each first Friday of the month, the galleries in Old City open up, serve wine and nibbles to the happy hour crew.
Hurray, I am graduating from Philly to DC. It does feel like a graduation of sorts. The house hunting began last weekend and will continue with another trip to DC this week. It's looking like I will be getting a shiny new place, all to myself! I love setting up new apartments. Very, very exciting.
So, the White Coat Ceremony is schedule for August 19th. That will be a big day and I'm sure to shed a tear or two. I am still blown away by everything. What a cool thing to have accomplished.
I've been hooked on spinning recently. I'm not talking about DJ'ing or yarn, either. I mean, the bicycle kind. What a work-out. Quick results, too!
What are the other things in Philly that I need to discover? Cooking classes. Photograph the murals. I recently saw the Liberty Bell. I've already climbed the Art Museum steps. I will have to consult the oh so knowledgable native Philadelphian friends of mine. The Italian market... I have to go there. Last night, I experienced "More than Ice Cream"... that place is great! Any other must see and dos??
