Weekend Art! Flu! and Spring Break.

Weekend art!

The past three days have been a fury of tripping over power cords, raising tripods, diffusing lights, smoothing backgrounds, brainstorming creative solutions, choosing angles, adjusting light ratios, tearing down, hauling everything up to the third floor, setting up again, making pancakes, carefully slicing butter, frothing milk for fake lattes, simulating wine in glassware, lighting metal, lighting glassware, lighting purely white objects... perhaps a good quarter of the material we mastered during my second year of college at RIT. Oh... and all of this was done in the midst of a horrendous head cold, sore throat and achy feverish chills. Good times!

Seriously, most of it has been a lot of fun. Other parts are insanely annoying. I sure couldn't do this for a living. It's fun for a while but loses appeal when creativity is forced under pressure. But I enjoy breaking out all the old stuff and remember how to use it. It's sort of like riding a bike. How did people get it all done before the age of digital imaging? I can't believe I used to shoot purely on film. It is unbelievable the amount of stuff I can get shot in a single day, when I'm not
worried about blowing through 10 or more rolls.

Today, my flu is gone and I actually made it out of the house this evening, for a spell. I am so glad to be feeling better. Hopefully, no one from class or the friends I went out with Saturday night caught what I had. If so, I'll feel really horrible! It was bad. Well, tomorrow, it's back to shooting, tutoring and probably studying at the library. At least the weather is getting warmer. Spring is almost here and I'm itching to be outdoors!
